A Year of Giving Back
Over the past year, the dedicated staff at M&Y have invested a remarkable 125 hours in volunteering at local primary and high schools. This hands-on involvement serves to showcase the diverse range of careers available within the construction and maintenance sectors. Moreover, we actively engaged with 10 careers events hosted by local schools and facilitated five work placements, offering over 360 hours of practical, on-the-job learning opportunities.
But our commitment to education doesn’t end there. M&Y has continued its partnership with the national charitable organization Positive Footprints, providing funding for their Raising Aspirations program in three North-West schools, benefitting a total of 85 children. This transformative program equips young learners with the skills they need to lead positive lives, boosting their confidence, resilience, and self-belief. It also nurtures practical skills for employability and introduces them to the vast world of work.
Inspiring the Next Generation
“Inspiring the next generation is so important, and our staff get such a positive buzz from seeing the difference these events and programs make for children and young people,” remarks Abbie Riley, New Business and Support Services Manager. In 2022, M&Y generated a remarkable £3.1 million in social value through collaborations with local schools and charities. Giving back to our communities is ingrained in M&Y’s ethos, and we eagerly anticipate another year of investing in initiatives that support our people, our places, and our planet.
