At M&Y, we have a strong belief in leaving a lasting impact in the communities we work in, far beyond the homes and place we build.
Just a few minutes from our Grove Street development sits the Liverpool Women’s Hospital, a place that supports thousands of women, babies and families every year. Through a collaborative partnership with the Liverpool Womens Hospital Charity, our colleagues and supply chain partners have come together on multiple occasions in support of the hospital to make a difference to those accessing vital healthcare services.
Lasting Community Impact
All construction projects have the potential to leave a lasting impact in the local community.
As we progressed work on site at Grove Street, we saw an opportunity to support the families at the hospital, who are going through some of life’s most challenging experiences. We worked with the hospital to identify where we can help.
Since first contact, we have had a positive long-term partnership that has saw works that improved spaces and facilities, supporting families and improving the experience of patients, visitors and healthcare staff.
Delivering support for families in need
One of the most important areas of the hospital is the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where poorly newborns receive vital treatment.
M&Y donated £6,000 to help in providing essential support for families spending extended periods at the hospital, ensuring parents can remain close to their babies during treatment. This donation forms part of the wider support that aimed to ease the challenges families face during difficult times.
Alongside this donation, our team delivered a series of improvement projects that upgraded the facilities used by patients and families, including the refurbishment works of family accommodation and improving outdoors spaces across the hospital.
Coming together to deliver more
M&Y colleagues volunteered their time in supporting wellbeing initiatives, prepare care packages and improve garden spaces, while members of our supply chain generously donated expertise, materials and labour to deliver refurbishment works that will benefit many families for years to come.
The collective effort of everyone involved demonstrated what can be achieved when organisations come together for a shared purpose. The combination of skills, resources and commitment to giving back means we were able to create spaces that provide comfort and support beyond the medical care alone.
The impact social value can make
The partnership has generated more than £21,000 in social value.
While the figure is significant, the real impact is found in the improved spaces, facilities and ongoing support available for families in need.
