The Background

MARCH 2017

In March 2017 after 9PM, a furniture shop on New Ferry high street exploded. The blast was heard from 70 miles away and injured more than 80 people. 86 people were made homeless as a result of the explosion.

The blast destroyed or damaged roughly 60 properties, reducing the local ballet school building, local shops and a funeral home to rubble.

The Development Phases

34 New Affordable Homes

Phase one is now complete, delivering 34 new homes across two prominent sites in the centre of New Ferry.

At Bebington Road, M&Y delivered 14 apartments for affordable rent through Regenda Homes. At Boundary Road, now known as Sorrel Place, 20 apartments were delivered for Rent to Buy through Redwing.

Together, the two developments have brought new life to previously underused high-street sites while providing quality, affordable homes for local people.

We Proudly Support The CCS

The official branding for the considerate constructors scheme.

Being aligned with and registered to the Considerate Constructors Scheme, we ensure high standards are set for all the projects we carry out through respecting the communities we work within, caring for the environment that surrounds us and valuing the welfare of our workforce who continue to deliver quality builds people can enjoy.

Social Value And Community Impact

The New Ferry Regeneration Project has allowed us to work closely with the local community in supporting those affected by the disaster.

With the support of our supply chain partner, AHS Plastering, who work with us on the new homes, we provided ballet barres for the local dance school.

Complete Works Performance School was one of many businesses affected, having lost its original studios to the explosion and the students were very excited to show the team how to strike a few new poses with their brand new ballet barres.

Watching all our hard work crumble to the ground was absolutely heartbreaking but we pushed on, determined to succeed. Now with M&Y's kind donation, we can continue to help the children grow in their training - we're so very grateful.

Creating Opportunities For Young People

Partnering With PLACED

Through our flagship partnership with PLACED, young people from The Wirral and Liverpool explored careers in building and construction and contributed ideas to live regeneration projects.

Site visits to New Ferry and creative workshops on design, public spaces and development helped the participants build skills, broaden their ambitions and play a part in shaping the places and spaces around them.
