Raising Standards Through the Considerate Constructors Scheme
Across our projects, you’ll often see references to CCS or the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
But what does it actually mean?
The Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) is an independent organisation that promotes higher standards across the construction industry, encouraging contractors and developers to go beyond compliance and focus on quality, safety, community impact, environmental responsibility and workforce wellbeing.
Successful construction is about being a good neighbour, reducing disruption, supporting local communities and creating positive experiences for residents, customers and stakeholders throughout the construction process.
This approach is reflected across our projects through:
- Creating employment and apprenticeship opportunities
- Supporting local schools and careers activities
- Investing in community initiatives and charitable causes
- Prioritising health, safety and wellbeing
- Working closely with residents and stakeholders
- Delivering social value alongside construction outcomes
Over the past year, M&Y generated more than £5.35 million in social value, created 94 employment opportunities, delivered 11 work placements, engaged 447 pupils through careers activities, invested more than £46,000 in charities and community organisations, and delivered 130 volunteering hours across the North West.
Projects like Grove Street demonstrate how high-quality construction, community investment and partnership working can come together to create lasting positive impact.
