New Ferry’s Regeneration: Phase 1 Planning Approved

New Ferry development

Exciting news is on the horizon for New Ferry as plans for the first phase of its regeneration have received the green light. Led by The Regenda Group, this ambitious redevelopment project promises to breathe new life into the area, with over 70 new properties, enhanced open spaces, and improvements to the high street. Let’s dive into the details of this transformative endeavor.

A Fresh Beginning for New Ferry

The Regenda Group is spearheading the regeneration of New Ferry, and phase one is already taking shape. This initial phase will see the construction of 34 one and two-bedroom apartments on Bebington Road and Boundary Road. Construction is slated to commence in the autumn of 2023.

Martin Davies, Director of Development for The Regenda Group, expressed his delight: “After extensive public consultation, I am delighted that Wirral Council have granted planning approval for these properties. This development will bring modern, energy-efficient homes to the area, with a range of tenures to suit the needs of local people.”

M&Y: Building the Future of New Ferry

M&Y, with its more than 40 years of experience in building and maintaining homes, will be responsible for constructing these new homes. Chris Mellor, Construction Director at M&Y, commented, “We’re pleased that planning has been granted for the first phase of this regeneration, bringing this important development another step closer for the community. M&Y are a reliable contractor with more than 40 years’ experience building and maintaining homes. We’re very much looking forward to the next steps of this development!”

A Commitment to Social Value

As always, social value will be at the core of this project, with support from the broader Regenda Group. The Learning Foundry will provide training and apprenticeships, while Positive Footprints’ award-winning Raising Aspirations Programme will introduce primary school children in the area to new horizons.

Michael Birkett, CEO of The Regenda Group, highlighted the project’s transformative nature: “This is a truly transformational project that will see the regeneration of New Ferry. We’re not only building great quality, affordable homes, but we’re also investing in the wider community. As a regeneration group, we know it takes more than bricks and mortar to make a place thrive, and we want to work with local people and organizations to deliver a lasting legacy we can all be proud of.”

Mixed Tenure for a Diverse Community

The development will offer a mixed tenure, with affordable rent properties provided by housing association Regenda Homes and Rent to Buy homes managed by Merseyside-based property specialist Redwing. All of these entities are part of The Regenda Group. Construction is estimated to take around 18 months to complete.

The regeneration of New Ferry is not only about building homes; it’s about revitalizing a community, creating opportunities, and leaving a lasting legacy. As the first phase takes flight, we eagerly anticipate witnessing New Ferry’s transformation into a thriving and vibrant place to call home. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting journey!
