Nearly 50 years ago M&Y began with something simple. One van, a set of ladders, and a commitment to always show up.
Calls came through a house phone. Work didn’t stop at the end of the day, it started again when the next job came in. It was a family business built on hard work and doing the right thing. Those same values are still at the heart of the business today.
Grove Street, completed in the heart of Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter for our client The Regenda Group, marks this 500th milestone. Phase 1 has brought 89 new apartments to the city centre, part of a wider 304-home regeneration.
From bright, open apartments filled with natural light, to shared green spaces designed to bring people together, Grove Street reflects what modern, city-centre living can be – accessible, high-quality and truly rooted in community!
From the early days of the project, M&Y worked closely with partners, suppliers and the local community to ensure Grove Street delivered lasting value. That included working with local schools, supporting initiatives in nearby organisations, and creating opportunities for apprentices and young people to gain real on-site experience.
The development also includes shared green spaces and areas designed to bring people together, not just residents, but the wider community too.
One of the most memorable moments came as school children from St Anne’s officially opened the new community garden, a space designed to grow with the residents who will call Grove Street home.
As Managing Director Gill Kelly puts it: “We’re not just about profit. We build to make a difference to lives and communities.”
And that mindset shapes every project and it’s what gives this milestone its meaning.
500 homes delivered and 500 opportunities to create something lasting, with future phases already underway, there’s still more to come!
