Situated next to Parkfield Place, where we recently completed the building of 39 affordable one and two-bedroom apartments, local charity Sunflowers is busy providing essential support to local people following a diagnosis of cancer or other life-changing illness.
Offering a wide range of support services and groups, the charity’s kitchen is a busy place, providing up to 175 cups of tea or coffee every week and 100 slices of cake and plates of biscuits.
Bobby from the Sunflower Centre said: “We have over 1,200 appointments every month at Sunflowers. This kitchen upgrade will take away the clinical feel of waiting on the corridor, instead giving people a place where they can make themselves a cup of tea and feel safe before going into an appointment.”
As part of our commitment to supporting the communities in which we work, we offered to give the centres kitchen a much-needed upgrade. Site Manager, Dave Hagerty, got to work with our supply chain and as a result we were able to source and fit a new kitchen, completely free of charge.
Richmond Kitchens provided the kitchen units, which were then installed by C+L Timber Kits. The sink unit was provided and connected by Parkers.
In addition to the kitchen works, New Look Windows have also installed some new windows, and the M&Y team installed a new fence between the development and the centre.
Bobby continues, “All of us at Sunflowers are hugely appreciative of the kind incredible work that M&Y Maintenance and Construction and their supply chain have done and the consideration they have given all along during the build. It looks great and such a welcoming place for the service users.”
