M&Y Construction and Maintenance Ltd has handed over a 32 unit, £7.9 million extra care development in Wigan. Formerly known as Shevington Extra Care Scheme the scheme has now completed as Meadow View Court.
The extra care development is made up of 32 units and is thoughtfully built to help it’s residents have social interaction and support well-being.
It’s a pleasure to hand over the completed building. The scheme is in the beautiful rural village of Shevington and will provide fantastic homes and shared spaces for residents, with scenic views. This will forever be a treasured project for M&Y, being one of the largest schemes awarded to date and the first ever new build extra care scheme we have delivered from start to finish.
There was a real environmental focus during the design of this scheme. All apartments have achieved an EPC rating B, containing ground source heat pumps and PV panels to reduce energy costs for residents and emissions. Electric vehicle charging points were also installed in the communal car parking area.
As well as delivering the requirements for extra care living, keeping the planet in mind, the project also spread its roots through the local community with M&Y contributing £2,838,080 to social value in the local area. Read the full Social Value Report here!
