Exciting times for M&Y Maintenance and Construction as we commence work on the eagerly anticipated New Ferry regeneration project, marking a new chapter for the Wirral community. This development has moved from planning into action, helping rejuvenate the area by providing over 70 new, affordable homes.
Last week’s launch event saw the community join together, with dignitaries from Wirral Council and Homes England – the latter contributing £1.9m in funding towards the development. Pupils of Grove Street Primary School were at the heart of our ground-breaking event, reminding all in attendance of the fantastic impact and opportunities we can create by working in partnership. As part of the New Ferry redevelopment, the children will be supported by Positive Footprints’ Raising Aspirations Programme and will be following the progress on-site with a keen eye.
Phase one of this project will see M&Y, leveraging over four decades of industry expertise, developing 20 homes on Boundary Road and 14 apartments on Bebington Road. These homes will be made available for affordable rent through Regenda Homes and Rent to Buy through Redwing, ensuring a mixed tenure to cater to the diverse needs of the New Ferry community.
Martin Davies, Director of Development at The Regenda Group, expressed enthusiasm about the project’s progression: “We’re pleased to see work begin on-site at New Ferry. This is an important milestone in our project to rebuild and transform the area, bringing a range of high-quality, affordable homes that meet the needs of local people.“
Stephanie Harrison, Executive Director of Operations – Customer Service, at The Regenda Group, shared her excitement: “We’re excited to see work starting on the New Ferry site. This is a significant development for local people, seeing the area brought back to life through affordable housing. As a regeneration company with a community focus, we’ve pledged to bring many benefits to the local community, including opportunities for local children, young people, and adults.“
Echoing the sentiments of partnership and community enhancement, Cllr Tony Jones, Chair of the Economy, Regeneration and Housing Committee for Wirral Council, stated: “We are delighted that The Regenda Group is partnering with us on this development. The group consists of a number of multi-disciplined, specialist companies and they bring a strong community focus to the project and are committed to delivering social value in this project as well as high-quality new accommodation where it is needed in New Ferry.“
Beyond the construction of new homes, this project pledges to deliver significant social value, including employment, training, and work experience opportunities. The initiative underscores M&Y Maintenance and Construction’s commitment to not just building homes, but fostering a thriving, vibrant community.
