Great news! Planning has been granted for the second phase of our New Ferry regeneration project.
On Thursday 18th April, Wirral Council’s planning committee unanimously approved plans to create 43 affordable homes on the site of the Woodhead Street car park and a former Co-op store on New Chester Road.
Councillors praised the development for its new green spaces and energy-efficient homes. Additional improvements to the high street will be carried out by Wirral Council which will revitalise the area.
We’re currently on site for Phase 1 which will see the construction of 34 affordable rent and rent to buy homes over two sites on Bebington Road and Boundary Road.
The project in total will bring more than 70 news homes to the area. These homes will be made available for affordable rent through Regenda Homes and Rent to Buy through Redwing – a mixed tenure offering to meet the needs of the New Ferry community.
As always, social value is at the heart of what we do. This project will transform New Ferry, not only through affordable housing, but employment, training, and work experience opportunities. For us, it’s about creating a vibrant community where local people can thrive.
Chris Mellor, Construction Director at M&Y Maintenance and Construction, said: “We’re delighted that Wirral Council have approved planning for the second phase of work in New Ferry. This is a project that will transform the community through the construction of modern, energy-efficient homes. Beyond the homes, we’re supporting local people through our social value activity including employment and training opportunities with partners including PLACED.”
Construction for phase one will be completed by Summer 25 and we expect to start phase two in Summer 2025.
