St Martins shortlisted for Housing Partnership of the Year

Housing Partnership of the Year 2024_finalist

Our St Martins development has been shortlisted for Housing Partnership of the Year at the Northern Housing Awards!

We worked with The Regenda Group, Redwing and the Parish Church Council of Broughton to deliver affordable housing options and an energy-efficient new-build chapel and parish hall in Fulwood, Preston.

We built 14 new homes for the St Martins development, comprising five three-bedroom houses and nine two-bedroom apartments, and a new chapel and community hall for Broughton Parish on the site on the site of the former St. Martin’s Parish Centre.

The new homes were built on unused land around the chapel and the properties were made available through Redwing. The scheme provided first-time buyers in the area with an exciting opportunity to get onto the property ladder, with all 14 of the highly energy-efficient homes, available for Rent-to-Buy.

We built the new homes to high environmental standards – air source heat pumps have been installed and apartments benefit from photovoltaic panels and KERS indoor heat pumps, which convert waste heat from within the homes into low-cost, renewable hot water. Electric vehicle charging points have been provided throughout.

The new energy-efficient chapel includes accessible facilities for the community and the new parish hall is regularly used by groups including a youth group, choir, knitting group, and a range of training courses and is open as a Warm Welcome Space each week.

The partnership with the Parish gave a focus to the social value outcomes from the development, including volunteering days for M&Y staff to help with planting and landscaping for the chapel building, donations to local food banks and spending within the local supply chain.  Throughout the project, we visited local schools to connect with young people and open up careers in the world of construction and regeneration.
